“The Chips” exhibition in Kyiv

On 7 November, at 19:00, thesteinstudio opened an exhibition with some materials from the photo archive of Ukrainian mosaics collected by photographer Yevhen Nikiforov in 2013-2023 and published  in the book “Chips: Ukrainian Naïve Mosaics, 1950-90”, co-author, the historian Polina Baitsym.

The exhibition expanded the collection of the photo book, focusing on mosaics that usually go unnoticed. The focus of the exhibition was on archiving practices that are changing under the influence of the impossibility of restoring the names of the mosaic authors and the destruction of Ukrainian spaces.

The exhibition ran from 7 to 19 November at thesteinstudio (6 Lutheranska Street, Kyiv).
