CHRONICLE OF UKRAINIAN DESIGN (FIFTH ISSUE)
Chronicle of Ukrainian Design is a magazine about the history and development of Ukrainian design, initiated by Spiilka design bureau. The magazine is an attempt to observe and present how Ukrainian design identity was born and evolved. The fifth issue marks a significant median for the project.
In this issue: the evolution of Ukrainian money design from Kyivan Rus to the present day; the identity of major banks — monobank, Oschadbank, PrivatBank; key figures in the creation of financial logos — Mykhailo Aheienko and Borys Maksymov; Heorhiy Narbut, Ukrainian graphic artist, illustrator, author of the coat of arms of Ukraine (UNR), designer of the first Ukrainian state symbols (UNR banknotes and postal stamps), creator of Ukrainian fonts and a recognizable signature graphic style; "money" fonts and letterforms, including Hryvnia by LevType; the design history of ZAVOD and watch design by Oleksiy Iskos (since time is money); and the case study of the Ajax company — the most valuable assets must be kept safe.
The issue was created by the Kyiv-based design bureau Spiilka in partnership with the publisher ist publishing.
